November 19, 2013 – Holly, MI – The Mason Dixon Meltdown at Southern National Motorsports Park is less than a week away and entries continue to pour in. The non-points season finale for the TRUFUEL Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series (MSRXSS) will feature some of the biggest names in winged pavement sprint car racing.
The November 23 event will bring 410 c.i. winged pavement sprint cars to the Carolina’s for the first time since 1989. The drivers that are set to compete in this historic event feature a wide diversity of past racing accomplishments .Fans can rest assured they will be watching the best asphalt sprint car drivers the country has to offer.
The drivers currently entered account for six Little 500 sprint car victories, four Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series championships, a lone Must See Racing Supermodified Series championship, two USAC National Sprint Car Series championships, and countless feature victories and championships with other pavement sprint car associations.
In addition, there are drivers with previous starts in IndyCar Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and Indy Lights Series competition.
Current entries received to date reads like a who’s who of pavement sprint car racing. The list is headlined by 2013 National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Jeff Bloom. Bloom was recently inducted into the HoF and is the only active driver who last appeared in 410 c.i. winged pavement competition in the Carolina’s way back in 1989.
Other drivers entered include former and current MSRXSS champions Troy DeCaire and Brian Gerster. The list also includes former MSRXSS feature winners Jimmy McCune, Aaron Pierce, Jacob Wilson, and Brian Olson.
A surprise entry from Brian Tyler will see Tyler returning to his racing roots. The Michigan native, who now calls Mount Pleasant, NC home, will climb behind the wheel of a winged pavement sprint car for one of a very few starts over the past 15 years. Tyler has been competing regularly with USAC since the mid 1990’s and hasn’t had time to return to the division as much as he would have liked over the last 15 years. Tyler is a two-time USAC National Sprint Car Series champion with several USAC feature wins to his credit.
The ‘First Lady of Speed’ Sondi Eden is also entered. Eden is a former NAMARS midget and USAC Regional Midget Series champion.
2012 Must See Racing Supermodified Series champion Kyle Edwards is also entered. Edwards will be making his first career start with the MSRXSS.
Other entries to date include: DJ Hamilton, Kevin Blue, Jim Sheets, Cody Gallogly, Todd Fayard, and Dave Baumgartner.
