SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Selinsgrove Speedway officials announced the weekly 25-lap 358-360 sprint car main events will pay $2,000 to win out of a purse totaling $10,045 at the track in 2014. Special events throughout the season will also showcase higher-paying purses.
At the conclusion of the 2013 season, promoter Charlie Paige announced the historic Snyder County oval will start to transition to 360 cubic-inch sprint car racing in 2014. The 360 sprint cars will join the 358 sprint cars, which have been the track’s headline open wheel division since 2001, as part of the weekly racing programs next year.
Track officials recently acknowledged a discrepancy in the division’s top wing specifications and will be posting revisions on selinsgrovespeedway.com later this week. The track will be adopting the top wing specifications utilized by the national American Sprint Car Series (ASCS), as well as legal wing configurations currently permitted in central Pennsylvania 410 and 358 sprint car competition.
Dates for the speedway’s 2014 Motorsports Show at the Susquehanna Valley Mall are being finalized and will be announced soon. Race car show registrations will be taken starting after Jan. 1 by calling 570.523.8420.
Selinsgrove Speedway’s 2014 season opener will be the Race of Champions Icebreaker Weekend for 358 modifieds and big block modifieds Friday and Saturday, March 14-15. The full 2014 season schedule will be released after Jan. 1.
In other news, the Nov. 29 Black Friday go kart race at Selinsgrove Raceway Park has been cancelled.
