– A last minute decision paid off for Keneric Racing, as they made the call to put Ian Madsen in the seat of their potent entry for the most recent World Series Sprint Car events, and the younger Madsen picked up two top-five finishes.
“I can’t thank the Keneric Racing team enough for the opportunity they gave me,” Madsen said. “It was a last minute deal, and we went out to have some fun, and fortunately we had a really good weekend.”
Taking to the Motorplex in Kwinana, Western Australia on Friday night, the younger Madsen struggled a bit in time trials as he timed in 26th fastest.
Forced to run a B Main, ‘Dyno’ took advantage of his front row starting spot, and ran second, transferring him to the feature event.
Lining up 16th in the star-studded feature event, Madsen had a very stout Keneric Group entry, as he took on some of the world’s best drivers as he charged forward to a fourth place finish.
Following his performance on Friday, the team opted to keep Ian in the seat on Saturday, as the WSS traveled to Bunbury, Western Australia.
Timing in 12th fastest, Madsen raced his way into the feature event through his heat races and lined up ninth in the feature event.
Continuing his impressive showing in the Keneric Racing entry, Madsen worked his way forward on the racy track, and scored a fifth place finish.
“Originally we were only going to have Ian run on Friday night, but after how well the team did on Friday, we made the decision to run him on Saturday as well, and the team did great,” Keneric Racing General Manager and Co-Owner Peter Gavranich said. “We have to thank Ian for running so well for us, and we have to thank Matt Griffith for the exceptional job he has done looking over our program in Australia. We have had some great results in Australia this year, and we attribute that to Matt staying organized and working so well with our drivers.”
Turning to this weekends WSS season finale at the Motorplex, Keneric Racing is excited to announce that Kerry Madsen will return home and return to the seat following his red hot start in the United States.
“We ran very well with the World of Outlaws and All Stars in the USA, so hopefully we can get down to Australia and run well with the WSS and run well at the Krikke Boys Shootout,” Kerry Madsen said.
Keneric Racing is also excited to announce that for the four races Kerry Madsen will be behind the wheel over the next two-weeks, the team will fly the American Racing colors that they are utilizing in the United States paying homage to the team’s new marketing partner for 2014.
“Our team got off to such a great start in the United States, we are hoping Kerry can return to Australia and stay sharp, and run up front,” Gavranich said. “We are also very excited to run the American Racing colors in Australia for the first time, and hopefully we can have a great four races before Kerry returns to World of Outlaws action.”
