Back in action with the World of Outlaw’s on Friday night at the Merced Speedway, Jason Statler earned hard charger honors for the night as the Grass Valley, CA driver charged from 24th to 12th on the very tight speedway.

Struggling a bit in time-trials, Statler timed in 28th fastest, putting him in the rear of his heat race. Moving from his seventh starting spot to a fifth place finish, “The Big Guy” earned a transfer into the feature event, but found himself starting scratch on the field.

When the race went green, Statler was mindful to be patient, and not force any issues, starting that far back on an extremely short track during a 40-lap race.

Riding the low-side of the speedway, Statler slowly gained grown, while managing to stay on the lead lap as the leaders reached the tail end of the field in a hurry.

With single file restarts being used all night, it put the tail end of the field at a disadvantage, but Statler was able to continue to work his way forward as he got past Tommy Tarlton and Jason Sides late in the feature to take home a 12th place finish.

“It wasn’t an ideal start to the night, but the guys kept working, and got the car better each time we were on the track after time-trials,” he said. “It is a very tough place to pass on, but we were able to gain some spots, and pass some cars.”

Jason Statler would like to thank DF Rios Motorsports, Amerikote, Riley Collins Auto Body, SCI, Kaeding Performance, Yak Graphics, Factory Kahne Shocks, Ultra Shield, Rod End Supply, Santomauro, Stephanie’s Custom Interior, and Nevada City Auto Service for their continued support.

ON TAP: Jason and his team will take the week off before returning to action April 18th at the King’s Speedway and April 19th at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA.
