– KANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 7, 2014) – The Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s return to Lakeside Speedway will have to wait another year.
The McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic scheduled for this Thursday has been cancelled because of the threat of severe weather to the area. According to multiple weather reports, a thunderstorm is slated to hit the area Thursday afternoon with a high chance of rain throughout the night.
“Unfortunately Mother Nature didn’t cooperate with us this year,” TBJ Promotions Founder Tony Bruce Jr. said. “Fortunately we have great people behind us like McCarthy Auto Group and we are planning on scheduling the event at Lakeside Speedway next year.”
The event would have been the third Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour race at Lakeside Speedway and the first since 2008.
“Since it’s only a one-day show and there aren’t other races around the region this weekend, I wanted to inform the teams and fans early since many are pulling in from a long distance,” Bruce Jr. said. “It’s also important to keep all of the fans, teams, officials and workers safe so that’s why we decided to make the decision today.”
