After being close on a number of occasions in recent race meetings, Danny Reidy last Saturday night at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway returned to the podium.
In what was the penultimate KRE Sprintcar Series round, the NQ # 5 Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs supported Maxim driver’s night went from strength to strength, and it was completed it by finishing second-place finish behind Bryan Mann at the fall of the chequered flag in the feature race. For Reidy, this was his third podium finish of the season.
“I had a really good car in the feature race, and it was nice to return to the podium and reward my team for all of their efforts,” explained Reidy, who had started the feature race from position four. “I felt that I had a really strong car in lapped traffic, but the problem was every time I entered lapped traffic, the cautions came out. In the end, not being able to get into lapped traffic denied us of a better chance of challenging Bryan (Mann) for the win.”
Reidy admitted that he struggled earlier in the night with his car, but managed to find a good car setup in the top-six Dash. Despite struggling with the car, he was still able to qualify sixth in time trials and then able to move forward in both of his heat races with fifth and third place finishes respectively. In the top-six Dash, he had qualified sixth and then moved forward to finish in fourth which gave him his feature-race start position.
The final appearance of the 2013-14 season will be for the final round of the KRE Series on Saturday night, May 24 at Archerfield Speedway.
Reidy Racing would like to thank Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Downs Tinting & Signs, P&M Motor Body Repairs, Gonzo’s Race Pipes and Inglis Race Engines, for all of their 2013-14 season support.
