(Lebanon, IN) Simpson World Indy Rookie candidate Colton Dooley showed the field the fast way around Coles County Speedway on Saturday May 10.  Dooley swept the night, taking the win, his heat win, led the most laps and earned the pole position to claim his 1st USSA in victory in dominating fashion.

In his heat race Dooley passed the field to take the win in the second heat, establishing himself as pole car using USSA’s passing/finishing points system to line-up the feature race.  After the feature inversion, Dooley started the feature 4th and passed early leader Cordy Horn to take the lead for good on lap 6.

The big contest of the night was a race long battle for 3rd place between Travis Young, Cole Fehr and Kent Kriegbaum.  The three drivers spent much of the thirty lap feature either three wide or banging on each other’s bumpers to try and establish a solid hold on 3rd.  When the checkered flag flew, the finishing order was Young, Fehr and Kriegbaum.

Sixth and seventh place was so close USSA officials delayed the official results to review scoring.  Following the review, Clayton Gaines locked down the 6th spot while Jessica Bean came home in 7th.

The Mel Kenyon Midget Series will return to action on Wednesday evening May 21 on the High Banks of Anderson Speedway. On their second 2014 trip to Anderson Speedway, the USSA midget drivers will be joined by the Must See Racing Winged Sprint Car Series.
