Saturday night, the regions top 360ci drivers will hit the famous red clay at one of the most exciting tracks on the Civil War Sprint Car Series Presented By Flowmaster circuit, Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA.

The high-banked ¼ mile speedway has produced some memorable racing over the years, and with the highly competitive series that has put up three exciting races thus far in 2014 taking center stage, Saturday night should be one to get to.

In 2013 Civil War Series action at the Placerville Speedway, Placerville, CA driver Andy Gregg picked up two of the four wins, with Elk Grove, CA shoe Greg DeCaires picking up a win, and San Jose, CA driver Tim Kaeding winning the season finale, Al Hinds Memorial.

In 2014 weekly competition at the Placerville Speedway, Justin Sanders has been very hot as he has already picked up three feature event wins, but Greg DeCaires leads the track championship standings by six points by way of his May 17th feature event win.

Leading the series into action on Saturday night is the most recent feature winner, Shane Golobic. Driving the Keith Day Trucking No. 22 machine, Golobic is fresh off of finishes of first and second place, and is looking to extend his lead, and continue his strong runs at the Placerville Speedway.

Breathing down Golobic’s neck, and sitting just four markers out of the lead is 2013 series champion, Sean Becker. “The Shark” has picked up two third place finishes aboard his new H.A.M. Construction No. 35M team, and his hungry to pick up their first win together.

Sitting in the third spot is Sebastapol, CA wheel-man, Geoff Ensign. Ensign has been dominant at the Petaluma Speedway to date, and in Civil War action, he has shown that he can be a factory from any starting position. After charging from 12th-2nd during the series opener, Ensign started in the C main on Saturday night aboard Bret Lay’s No. 24B machine, and ended his night with a 5th place finish. Ensign sits 19 markers out of the lead.

Currently 4th in the standings by way of his three Top-10 finishes is ‘The Colfax Comet’ Colby Wiesz. Piloting his family owned No. 21W machine, Wiesz has had a very consistent start to the 2014 campaign, and has shown he can come from deep in the field as he did at the season opener, as well as Sunday’s race at the Chico, CA. 30 markers out of the top spot, Wiesz will look to cut into that this weekend.

Rounding out the Top-5, and looking to shake some bad luck to start his 2014 season with F & F Racing is Mr. Excitement, Andy Forsberg. Sitting 50 digits out of the lead, the seven-time series champion has had multiple mechanical gremlins knock him out of contention of wins early in the year, and the team will be gunning to return to victory lane at their home track.

In the most recent series action, Hanford, CA driver, DJ Netto survived a wild main event, and a last lap challenge from Shane Golobic,  on Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway Park to secure his first career series win, while on Sunday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Jonathan Allard and Shane Golobic thrilled the crowd with a battle for the lead, with Golobic taking the lead for good with four laps to go to secure the win.

Other drivers expected to be at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night include Andy Gregg, Justin Sanders, Steven Tiner, Matt Peterson, Justyn Cox, Jonathan Allard, Kurt Nelson, Alissa Geving, Herman Kleing, Greg DeCaires, Jimmy Trulli, Jake Morgan, James Sweeney, and many other top drivers.
