– LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (June 16, 2014) – Austen Wheatley is embarking upon the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions Ohio Speedweek following a successful return to the Northwest.
The Speedweek features nine races in as many days at eight different tracks throughout Ohio.
“Being consistent, finishing and not having problems is the first goal,” he said. “If we start it off with consistent top 10s and get some top fives I think we can get a win.”
Wheatley is coming off four top fives in his last six races, including his first career sprint car victory in the United States.
“I think we have the car pretty stable for a good starting point,” he said. “Racing back here is nothing like it is back there because the tracks are so much slicker and the competition is more consistent, so I’ll be learning the first couple of nights but I think we should be fairly competitive.”
The Speedweek kicks off this Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, where Wheatley said he feels the most comfortable out of all the tracks he’s been to in Ohio.
“At Attica we ran really good during a couple of All Star shows,” he said. “It kind of suits my style. It’s really wide and you can run the top.”
The Speedweek shifts to Eldora Speedway near Rossburg on Saturday and Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield on Sunday. Next week’s Speedweek races are Monday (June 23) at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville; Tuesday (June 24) at Sharon Speedway in Hartford; Wednesday (June 25) at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe; Thursday (June 26) at Fremont Speedway in Fremont; Friday (June 27) at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima; and Saturday (June 28) at Fremont Speedway.
If the Ohio Speedweek goes well the team will venture to Pennsylvania for the remainder of the famed PA Speedweek.
