– In a rain shortened weekend, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team had a big night at the Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night that saw the Austalian wheel-man charge to another second place finish at the speedway, and doing so assumed the track championship point lead.
“We have been so good at the Huset’s Speedway over the last year and a half, it is really fun getting their each week,” Madsen said. “This week we have two huge races there, so hopefully we can continue to stay strong at the speedway.”
Timing his KCP Racing machine in seventh fastest in time trials, the St. Marys, NSW driver went on to finish in the fifth spot in his heat race, transferring him directly to the $5,000.00 to win feature event.
Lining up in the sixth spot, Madsen got off to a great start, as he began his journey to the front of the field.
Getting into the third spot in just a few laps, Madsen ran in the show position as he chased after race leader, Justin Henderson, and second running, Dusty Zomer.
Running in the third spot for much of the 25-lap feature event, Madsen came alive in the waning stages of the race, as he got into the second spot with just two laps remaining, and had a full head of steam as he charged after Henderson.
At the stripe, Henderson narrowly held off Madsen, who had mixed emotions on the results.
“It was disappointing not to win the big money, but we had another great racecar here,” he said. “We have a win and three seconds here this year, and we will look to keep that hot streak going this week.”
