After taking a four week break, the ultra competitive Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster roars back to life on Saturday night at the Petaluma Speedway in Petaluma, CA for the series’ lone visit to the speedway in 2014, as the earlier date was cancelled due to rain.
The California Sprint Car Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster is in the midst of a very competitive 2014 campaign as the series has seen four different race winners in four nights of action with the Top-10 in points separated by just 101 markers.
A very special night for fans is on tap as the Petaluma’s Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant (located right behind the pit area) has come on board at the Petaluma Speedway, and will be the title sponsor of the event, dubbed as Buffalo Wild Wings Night at the Races Featuring the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster. The first 200 fans in the gate will receive a Buffalo Wild Wings scratcher that will award various food specials, and part of the partnership will keep the restaurant open until 2am on Saturday so fans will have ample time following the event to take advantage of their deal.
Entering the event as the series’ most recent winner and the most recent winner at the Petaluma Speedway is Auburn, CA pilot, Andy Forsberg. Though the 2014 hasn’t been kind to Forsberg, he will look to build on his recent success at the speedway in mid-June, and become the series’ first repeat winner of the season.
Shane Golobic has been on fire with the Civil War Series as he enters the event as the Series point leader by way of one feature event win, and two second place finishes. Golboic has ran well at the Petaluma Speedway in years past, including a Civil War win at the speedway in 2013.
Behind Golobic is 2013 series Champion, Sean Becker. In 2013 Becker won the late season stop at the Petaluma Speedway that vaulted him to the title, and after seemingly getting each week in the Main Motorsports 360ci machine, he will look to grab the team’s first victory on Saturday night.
After suffering injuries in a crash earlier this season, local standout Bradley Terrell will make his highly anticipated return to the Civil War Series on Saturday night as he climbs back aboard Dan Monhoff’s No. 35 machine. During the season opening event at the Maryville Raceway Park back in March, Terrell charged to seventh from 16th, and will look for a big night with his Monhoff team after picking up a win just a few weeks ago in Antioch, CA.
Other drivers likely to be in attendance include Watsonville’s Justin Sanders, Grass Valley’s Jeremy Burt, Wilton’s Matt Peterson, Penngrove’s Alissa Geving, Gilroy driver, Kurt Nelson, Sacramento pilot, Herman Klein, Fresno’s Koen Shaw, and many more of the regions best.
Saturday night the action gets off to an earlier start as the main grandstands open at 4pm, again the first 200 fans get a Buffalo Wild Wings Scratcher, with cars on the track by 5pm, and racing to follow soon after.
