Taking the honors in the 410 Sprint Car class was Eric “Turkey” Williams, of Greenville. It was his second crown offered by Luxaire Heating & Cooling and McCrudden Heating & Supply. Finishing second was the Kittanning Comet, Rod George. Adam Kekich edged out Brandon Matus for third. Defending champ Jack Sodeman, Jr. held on for fifth despite missing several shows due to an injury. Completing the top ten were Scott Priester, Dan Kiriger, rookie A.J. Flick, Brent Matus, and Francis Sesco.
Jimmy Holden, of Tiona, was back on top of the Approved Toilet Rentals 358 Modifieds. Finishing a very close second was Kyle Fink, who led the points for most of the season only to fall short by four markers. Frank Guidace grabbed third, with Eric Gabany in fourth, and J.R. McGinley fifth. Shawn Fleeger was sixth, ahead of Lonny Riggs, who upset the BRP Modified Tour in a non-point contest. Makayla Guidace, Shayne Izzo, and rookie Brian Schaffer completed the top ten.
Jimmy Morris, from Fowler, OH, can now breathe a sigh of relief, for he earned his first track championship in the Bonnell’s Rod Shop Outlaw Sprint Warriors. Andy Feil placed second. Cody Bova, C.J. Jones, and big car rookie George Hobaugh rounded out the top five. Mike Marano, II recovered from some early season burns to get sixth. Evan Kornbaugh, Eric L. Williams, Devin Litwiler, and Alex Paden were next. Divisional rookies Kornbaugh and Paden assure the continued growth and vitality of this class.
What more can be said of New Castle’s Trusty Rusty Moore? He now owns four, count ‘em, four consecutive titles in the Precise Racing Products Stock Cars. Pat Fielding, Leigh Wheeler, Curtis J. Bish, and Ryan Moyer each had some success over the course of the season, but none of them had the consistency to challenge Moore for the crown. WIlliam Hurrelbrink, Curt Bish, Gary Miller, Jr., Bob Schwartzmiller, and Garrett Calvert will also get invites to the track banquet.
George Englert developed the “flap dance,” as a salute to the fans whenever he won a race on the Rock Concrete Modified Lites. Well, the roof flap must be bouncing sky high now, for he earned the track championship. Jacob Bova, Chris Logan, Mike Flockerzi, and Josh Deems trailed him. Mark Marcucci and Shane Webb were sixth and seventh. Defending champion Shane Pfeuffer was eighth, despite sitting out several shows at the end of the season due to a blown motor. Cory Webb and Dan Cain were ninth and tenth.
Mike McConnell finished what he started. He won the first points race for the Mini Stocks and he ended the season on the top of the points list as well. Tyler Fulton won several events in the class backed Eperthener’s Auto Wrecking and Ray’s Racing Collectibles, including the popular Snow Flake 25 in early January. Trooper TIm Callahan was third, with Caleb Hickok and Shan Shook completing the top five. Steve Longwell. Sr., Tricia Riffe, Rudy Troples, Roger Wigton, and Ed Haylett finished in the top ten.
Coming up next week will be a pair of unique motorsports events. September 13 will be the USA East Regional Final Fall Nationals Truck and Tractor Pull. The next day, Mercer Raceway Park will offer Car Cruises for Causes.
