TAMPA, Fla. (February 17, 2015) The start to the 2015 season for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real sits days away with 50 drivers pre-entered, with closer to 60 expected, for the $10,000 to win King of the 360’s and Ronald Laney Memorial East Bay Raceway Park.
For the 14th annual Ronald Laney Memorial, happening February 19, 20, and 21, drivers will have to make every lap count if they want to make the cut on Saturday night. Not only does the event pay full ASCS National Tour points each night, the Thursday and Friday Preliminary Nights award points that combine to determine who makes the top six cut for Saturday’s lock-in.
Preliminary nights will follow ASCS National Tour format with draw to determine Heat Race lineups. Passing points during Heat Races will determine who advanced to “A” or “B” Features.
For the Preliminary Nights, points awarded for event purposes only are as follows:
Heat Race: Winner shall be awarded 12 points, with each position dropping by one point thereafter. (Scale: 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, etc.)
B-Feature: First non-transfer driver shall be awarded 171 points, with each position dropping by one point thereafter. (Scale: 171, 170, 169, 168, 167, 166, 165, etc.)
A-Feature: Winner shall be awarded 200 points, with each position dropping by one point thereafter. (Scale: 200, 199, 198, 197, 196, 195, 194, etc.)
**Any ties will be broken according to combined passing points from Thursday and Friday Heat Races.
Saturday Format:
Top six (6) in combined points from Thursday and Friday features locked into Saturday’s $10,000 to win, 40-lap Ronald Laney Memorial will redraw for their starting position inside the first three rows.
Balance of the field will be placed into four (4) Heat Races, going eight laps in distance, will be lined up according to the combined passing points from Thursday and Friday in the same manner as a pill draw (i.e., seventh to the pole of Heat 1, eighth to the pole of Heat 2, etc.)
Top two (2) from each Heat Race advances to the A-Feature, with Heat winners starting in positions 7-10, and second starting 11-14, lined up according to Heat Race order.
Third on back in Heat Races go into two (2) B-Features, 12 laps in distance, lined up according to Heat Race finish. Third place finishes will be front row of the B-Features, fourth will be second row, etc. Top four (4) from each B-Main to the A-Main.
