Port Royal – After a week off for Spring Break on May 16, Port Royal Speedway will return to action with a huge holiday weekend program of racing on Saturday, May 23 at 7 pm with Triple 25-lap features as the Fallen Heroes Championships are run.
The 410 sprints, super late models and River Valley Builders 305 sprints will all compete in 25-lap mains with increased purses, meant to honor the five drivers in speedway history who lost their lives in a racing accident at the track.
The 410s will race for $5,000 to win and $350 to start while the late models run for $2,000 to win and $200 to start.
Group time trials will set the heat grids for the 410s and late models.
May 23 will also be Pepsi Night and Packers Concession Night at the track with gates for the big show opening at 4 pm.
Adult general admission is just $20 with students ages 12 – 18 admitted for just $7.
The first 200 fans entering the main grandstand will receive either a FREE Pepsi hat or Pepsi Shirt while some 40 12-paks of Pepsi products will be given away during the night as well. Also up for grabs will be tickets to Hershey Park, Knoebels Grove Amusement Resort and the Harrisburg Senators.
The night will be highlighted by a beautiful fireworks display during intermission. It will also be York County Racing Club Night at the oval.
Mike Erdley and Coleby Frye are the defending Fallen Heroes Championship winners in the 410 sprint and late model divisions, respectively.
Danny Lasoski and Frye won the inaugural running of the races in 2013.
The track will be back in action on Saturday, May 30 with the Late Model Speedweek Charlie Grinestaff Memorial along with the 410 sprints and the Len Krautheim Auto Sales xtreme stocks at 7 pm.
