Findlay, OH — (May 23, 2015) — Promoters Randy and Lisa Hammer have designated their very first event at Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio, as a tribute to Bert & Brigitte Emick. The Emick’s were long-time promoters of the All Star Circuit of Champions, a sprint car sanctioning body that fittingly will sanction that season-opening event on Sunday, May 31, 2015.
Bert & Brigitte took over the series in 1980. While they didn’t create it, the circuit thrived under their leadership, quickly becoming one of the premier sprint car sanctions in the country. The often-copied “Ohio Sprint Speedweek” began early in their promotion and quickly became one of the best-known and influential sprint car events in the country. Their achievements led to their induction into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2000.
But as Lisa Hammer proudly and emotionally points out, these accolades are not the main reason for the tribute. “Bert and Brigitte did so much and meant so much to the people, whether they were racers, owners, or fans. They looked out for us, and they always did what was right for the sport. They were just regular people. They were family. And they still are…”
The Hammers hope you will join them on Sunday night, May 31, for their first venture into race track promotion. And if you do, they hope you’ll stop to say “hello” and “thank you” to their very special guests that night, Bert and Brigitte Emick.
