Friday night at the Ocean Speedway, Tommy Tarlton was involved in a lap two wreck, and unfortunately the Easton, CA driver will be sidelined until July as he recovers from broken ribs.
“It was a tough crash, and unfortunately we will have to sit out and heal up,” Tarlton said. “Aside from the crash, Paul Baines gave me another great race car and I thank him and all of the guys for their hard work.”
18 cars signed in for the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo even on Friday night, and ‘The Night Rider’ jumpstarted his night by timing the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son Inc./Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino No. 21 machine in eighth quickest.
Finishing second in his heat race, Tarlton would narrowly miss out on a spot in the redraw, and lined up for the 30-lap feature event in the fifth row.
Working the high side of the speedway, Tarlton would bicycle his machine on the second lap, and he would be unable to bring it back on all fours, as he would flip violently in turn four to bring out the red flag.
What he thought was just the wing getting knocked out of him, turned into broken ribs, that has him hopeful to return to racing for the Howard Kaeding Classic in July.
“It is never fun to get hurt, and be sidelined from something that you love, but in a wreck like that it could have been much worse,” he added. “Safety has come a long way in this sport, and I am very thankful for that.”
Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Executive Auto Sales, Pabco Gypsum, WFO Apparel, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2015 season.
