Knoxville, IA — (August 14, 2015) — Kevin Swindell underwent surgery Friday following a crash on Thursday at the Knoxville Raceway during the Knoxville Nationals. In a statement released on social media Friday Kevin’s father Sammy Swindell said Kevin had emerged from surgery and had suffered a significant injury. Kevin is scheduled to undergo another surgery on Monday morning. Further updates on Kevin’s condition will be released on Monday.
Kevin was injured on the start of the first qualifying heat race. Knoxville Raceway’s safety crew extracted Kevin from the car where he was air lifted to DesMoines Mercy hospital.
