Justin Sanders is forming a good habit. Week after week the Watsonville, CA driver seems to end a night in victory lane, and that was the case on Saturday night as he picked up his 15th win of the season while in action at the Marysville Raceway.
“We had a really good night on Saturday,” Sanders said. “We did what we needed to do, and were fortunate enough to start on the pole and pick up the win.”
Sanders would get his night started off by timing the F&W Racing No. 18 machine in third quickest during qualifying time trials. Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Sanders would finish in the third spot, and qualify for the Top-8 A Main redraw.
With luck on his side, Sanders would find himself with the one pill, and be in prime position for the 25-lap feature event. With Jeremy Burt alongside of him as the race went green, Sanders would get the early advantage and lead the first four markers until a pair of red flags slowed the race’s progress.
When the race came back to life, Sanders was strong out front, though he was unable to shake off a pesky Burt, who ran behind him in the second spot. Though unable to check out from the field, Sanders would keep Burt at bay as he picked up his 15th win of the season and eighth overall at the Marysville Raceway in 2015.
“This is beyond a dream season, but I sure hope we can keep it going,” Sanders said. “I would love nothing more than to get our total up to 20 this year, and I definitely think that it is within our grasp.”
ON TAP: Sanders will again be in action on Friday night in Watsonville, CA as well as back at the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night as he looks for another weekend sweep.
