2015 has been quite the season for Justin Sanders, and he still has races left. Over the weekend, Sanders completed yet another Ocean Speedway/Marysville Raceway weekend sweep has he now has 17 wins to his credit.

“When have been in a groove all year long, and things seem to just be going our way,” Sanders said. “Saturday night we had some good fortune, and on Friday night we started up front and took care of business.”

In his final tune up for the 55th Annual Johnny Key Classic at the Ocean Speedway on Friday night, Sanders would time his JSR No. 17 machine in second fastest, putting him in the second row of his heat race.

Racing his way to a third place finish, the Prunedale, CA driver turned Watsonville, CA resident would move into the Dash, where the four-pill would put him in the second row of the six-lap shootout.

Working up into the second spot, Sanders would find himself on the front row of the 30-lap A Main, as he looked to capture his eighth main event win of the season at his home track.

When the green lights flashed, Sanders was hard on the throttle as he jumped into the early lead over Kurt Nelson. Though Nelson would challenge Sanders in the early stages of the race, Sanders would slowly extend his lead lap after lap.

Putting together another brilliant performance, Sanders would grab the win and make history at Ocean Speedway by setting the single season all-time wins mark at 8.

Heading to the Marysville Raceway on Saturday night, Sanders and the F&W Racing team would open the night up by timing in third fastest before finishing third in his heat race.

In the feature event, Sanders would run in the third spot as he fought a racecar that was a little too tight for his liking. Chasing after Cody Lamar and Kenny Allen, Sanders would be in the right spot at the right time as the lead duo tangled on the 16th lap.

Assuming the race lead, Sanders was flawless over the final nine laps as he kept Brad Bumgarner at bay and picked up his ninth win of the season at the Marysville Raceway.

“We were definitely lucky on Saturday night because I don’t know if we had anything to get by Kenny (Allen) or Cody (Lamar),” Sanders explained. “Fortunately for us, we were able to stay clear of them and pick up another win.”

ON TAP: Sanders will look to grab another Civil War Series win at his home track, the Ocean Speedway, on Saturday night during the 55th Running of the Johnny Key Classic.
