CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-Atomic Speedway owner Brad McCown continues to move his speedwplant foward with the 17th annual running of a race that was once one of the nation’s crown events for sprint cars–“The Seneca Energy Corp. Freedom 40”–an event that this year will be run Saturday, October 3 on the Midwest’s fastest 3/8 mile high banked dirt track. The event will be sanctioned by the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association (OVSCA) which has averaged over 30 cars during the season at its events at Atomic. Joining the exciting sprint cars will be AMRA Modifieds, Sports Mods, 305 Sprints, and Racesaver 305 sprints.

Modifieds will pay $1,500 to win and $150 to start and Sport Mods $1,000 to win and $100 to start as a huge part of the 17th Annual FREEDOM 40 and OVSCA Championship Oct. 3rd at Atomic Speedway.

 

Winners on the “Who’s Who” list of champions for the Freedom 40 include five All-Star Champs and two World of Outlaw Champions. Seventeen Freedom 40’s have been scheduled starting with the inaugural race won by Jack Hewitt in 1990.  Two races were claimed by rain including the 2010 event which was to be run as a non-wing USAC venture July 31, 2010. Prior to last year’s event won by Californian Randy Hannagan,  Todd Kane won the previous Freedom 40 in 2011. The track was closed in 2012 and most of 2013. Additionally, No Freedom 40 events were scheduled from 2005 to 2009. A list of winners is listed below.

Many great drivers have expressed an interest in this year’s event. 2014 Track Champion Danny Smith is locked into the event as well as Freedom 40 qualifier winner and runner-up Dale Blaney and Cole Duncan if they choose to participate.

For an evening of great family fun and entertainment for the entire family, experience the thrill of high speed, wheel-to-wheel racing on the Atomic high banks. A kid’s playground is available for the children as well as a full midway of food, treats, and souvenirs.

General Admission is $20, senior citizens $18, and children 12-and-under free. A pit pass is $35 for adults and $20 for kids 12-and-under.

Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and General Admission gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps/warm-ups at  6 p.m. Racing  begins at 7:30.

 

In addition to Seneca Energy Corp., Ohio Pest Control, Bobst Auto Parts, Tim Hattle Trucking, Eichinger Trailer Sales, Downs Construction, “Until There’s None-Veteran PSTD and Suicide Awareness” have helped make this event possible. “Until There’s None-Veteran PSTD” has put up $500 for fast time and Eichinger Trailer Sales, Tuppers Plains, Ohio has offered $100 for the Freedom 40 Hard Charger Award.
