San Clemente, CA – Recently, the racing community took a significant hit as it was learned that two-time USAC National Sprint Car Champion, Tony Elliott had tragically passed in an aircraft accident. For many of his closest competitors, it hit too close to home.
“I knew Tony quite well as we raced 1000’s of laps together at the Little 500 an event we both shared a true passion for. Along with other events across the country our team was customer of his thriving trailer business,” Former USAC Champion and Molecule ambassador, Tony Hunt stated. “It has been a tough few of weeks trying to wrap my head around this tragedy.
An energetic personality, a glaring smile and an arsenal of driver suits that will sorely be missed, Hunt and the staff at Molecule, a premier product for performance apparel, helmets and vehicle care, have decided to do their part in keeping Elliott’s memory alive at one of the world’s biggest motorsports events, the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.
“Aside from his trademark smile and his personality, Tony had more driving suits than anyone I knew and they were always so clean and first class,” Hunt explained. “With Molecule being a cleaning product we felt it would be well suited to honor a driver who represents themselves in a clean and professional manner throughout the week of the Chili Bowl. We are excited to bring this award to a worthy individual who displays the Tony Elliott look of professionalism.
The Tony Elliot ‘Keep It Clean’ Award will supply the selected competitor with a $250 prize and the complete line of Molecule product. Scouts will be on hand throughout event in Tulsa, Oklahoma and selection of the winner will be announced Saturday afternoon, January 16.
