SYRACUSE, NY – The picturesque campus located in Upstate, NY known as SUNY Canton continues their long partnership with the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) once again for the 2016 racing season. The SUNY Canton Series will reward drivers that finish in the top 10 in points for the series within a series.
While the overall Lucas Oil point title is the crown jewel of all the point series within the ESS ranks where the overall champion is crowned, several smaller point series offers a more variety for other teams to shoot for. Events held at Utica-Rome, Can-Am, Fulton, Brewerton and Mohawk for this year will count towards the SUNY Canton Title.
Last year, Steve Poirier edged Jason Barney for the title. The Quebec star has also won the SUNY Canton Series in 2014, 13, 11 and 10. Lance Yonge won the inaugural Series in 2009 and tied Chuck Hebing for the title in 2012.
The College was originally chartered in 1906 as the first postsecondary, two-year college in New York. In 1987, the State University of New York’s Board of Trustees authorized the college’s present designation as State University of New York College of Technology at Canton, more commonly known as SUNY Canton.
The College’s faculty members are noted for their professional real-world experience in addition to their academic credentials. Students learn from engineers; crime scene investigators and former police officers; nurses and doctors; lawyers and entrepreneurs; programmers; in addition to novelists, photographers and videographers. The 33rd Anniversary Season is just around the corner, 27 point shows anchor the popular tour with many several high paying special events sprinkled in. Once again the very best drivers from US and Canada will be vying for the record point fund that will be offered.
Since, 2009, the SUNY Canton Series continues. Who will take home the crown for 2016? On aspect that is a given, the battle for the title will be excitement guaranteed!
