Abbottstown, PA — (April 23, 2016) — Danny Dietrich shook off some early season bad luck in scoring his first win of the year in the 25-lap “410” sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night.

“We’ve been pretty fast, we just haven’t had any luck. This (Lincoln) is where we’ve been struggling the most,” said Dietrich upon exiting his Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Hickory Run Orchards/Weikert’s Livestock #48 in victory lane, “We got lucky and started at a good spot. We were pretty good. I don’t know how fast we really were, because when you get out front like that…you just don’t know how fast Austin (Hogue) is. Austin has had a heck-of-a car all year here and he’s a contender every night we come here.”

Dietrich moved up a row and started fourth when outside polesitter J.J. Grosso was not able to fire the car for the feature.

Polesitter Kyle Moody to the lead at the start and led the first four laps before Dietrich drove by on the backstretch after a fifth-lap restart.

He led the rest of the way, but could never shake Hogue, crossing just .72 seconds ahead.

“The other guys are picking up the pace and getting fast and I just wasn’t real comfortable yet,” said Dietrich, “We’ve been hindered so much that I quit looking at the gauges. I’m just trying to put it all behind me and trying to get by. There’s been pretty much pressure on me here, and it’s really good for this team to finally park it on the front stretch.”

Third through fifth were Jim Siegel (who moved into the Lincoln points lead after advancing from seventh starting spot), Robbie Kendall, and tenth-starting Adam Wilt.

Completing the top ten were Gerard McIntyre, Jr., 13th-starting Freddie Rahmer, Moody, Tim Glatfelter, and 16th-starting Steve Owings.

Heats for the 30 410 sprints were won by Brian Montieth (who flipped in turn while running ninth on lap 12 of the feature and was credited with 23rd), Glatfelter, and Danny Dietrich, with Brandon Rahmer winning the consolation.

Last week’s winner Tyler Ross was the other feature flip victim, rolling over in turn four of lap 15.

Defending Central PA and Lincoln champion Doug Hammaker claimed his first Lincoln win of the year in the 20-lap “358” sprint car feature.

Hammaker started fifth and snatched the lead from Jeff Halligan in lapped traffic in turns three and four of lap 11, then held off a late-race charge by Halligan at the end. It was Hammaker’s fifth career Lincoln win, and he became the fourth winner in four 358 events this season.

Third through fifth were 11th-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh, 13th-starting Adrian Shaffer, and tenth-starting Chandler Leiby. Rounding out the top ten were polesitter C.J. Tracy (who led the first lap), Matt Findley, Matt Campbell, Cody Fletcher, and Phil Walter.

Heats for the 30 358 sprints were won by Halligan, Fletcher, and Campbell, with Tyler Esh winning the consolation.

Mason Chaney got what he always wanted, his first career Lincoln win, in the 20-lap make-up feature for the Central PA Legends, and event postponed by high winds and rain on April 2nd.

Outside front row starter Nathan Ottensmeyer led the first lap before fourth-starting Scott Houdeshell took over on lap two. Fifth-starting Chaney, who has been attending Lincoln events since childhood, took the lead from Houdeshell on lap 16 and took the checkered 2.8 seconds ahead of Houdeshell.

Third through fifth were 19th-starting Bill Diehl, Chad Earnst, and Chris Transeau.

In the regularly-scheduled feature, Bob Stough came out on top in a four-car battle for the lead to score his fourth career Lincoln win. One of the four, Lucas Montgomery, ran out of fuel on the final lap. The other two drivers were Earnst in second and Chaney in third.

Completing the top five were Bill Diehl and Houdeshell.

Heats for the 28 Legends were won by Mason Chaney (who established an 8-lap track record of 2:44.50 in his qualifier), Diehl, and Harlon Leppo.

Next weekend, Saturday, April 30th, Lincoln Speedway will host the 13TH ANNUAL WELDON STERNER MEMORIAL for 410 Sprints, plus 358 Sprints and All-American Outlaws. Time trials at 7:30 PM, with gates opening at 5:30 PM.
