– Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team put together a very strong weekend of racing that saw Madsen and company record their second win of the season.

“It was an awesome weekend of racing for this team,” Madsen said. “We had great speed all three nights and were able to secure another win.”

Wednesday night, Madsen and company were in action in Des Moines, IA at the State Fairground with the Sprint Invaders.

Turning in a dominant performance on this night, Madsen got the action kicked off by picking up a heat race win aboard his Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Kline Electric No. 18 machine, before picking up a the Dash win before gridding the field from the third spot for the feature event.

After two botched start attempts, Madsen would settle into the second spot when the race went green. Working on the leader for the first five laps of the race, Madsen would make his move amidst heavy lapped traffic on lap six to take over control.

Out front, Madsen would pull away and never seriously be challenged on this night as the win would be his second career Sprint Invaders win as he clean swept the night’s event.

Friday night would see the team reunite with the NSL Series as they checked into the Jackson Motorplex for the Jackson Spring Nationals. Timing the Royal Flooring/Bobcat/TammyHeckart.com machine in fourth fastest in time trials, Madsen would proceed to finish sixth in his heat race and earn a spot in the night’s Dash, which really would act like a points scramble on this night.

Starting on the front row, Madsen would leave the field behind as he would pick up the win and earn max points, which put himself in the second row for the 25-lap A Main event.

Moving into the second spot when the race came to life, Madsen would chase after Craig Dollansky who set a strong pace out front in the early goings of the feature event. Reeling Dollansky in at times over the duration of the race, Madsen would feel pressure from both Danny Lasoski and brother, Kerry Madsen during the feature.

Slipping back to third late in the feature, it would turn into a battle between both Madsen’s for the final spot on the podium. With Kerry able to get in front of Ian on a pair of occasions, Ian would answer the call both times to finish in the third spot at the checkered flag.

Saturday night saw the team return to the Knoxville Raceway as this night too would be sanctioned by the NSL. Timing in fifth fastest on this night, Madsen would have a strong heat race where he would pick up a win and find himself in the third row for the 25-lap feature event.

Getting off to a slow start when the race went green, Madsen would slip outside of the top five as eh would chase after the likes of Davey Heskin and Brian Brown who ran ahead of him.

Able to get by Heskin, Madsen would take over the fifth spot as he would then battle Dollansky and Brooke Tatnell as he looked to better his track position. Making things interesting at times, Madsen’s weekend would end with a fifth place run.

“Really a strong weekend across the board for this organization,” Madsen added. “We timed well, raced well, and finished well. I like that we are continuing to get better and I think if we continue along this path we will continue to rack up wins.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Finer Cuts lawn and Landscape, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
