SYRACUSE, NY – Memorial Day Weekend gets most racing fans into high gear with big events all over the United States. For the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) it’s no different with two big events which will be held at the Thunder Mountain Speedway on Saturday night and the Utica-Rome Speedway on Sunday.
This marks the first time ever that ESS will visit Thunder Mtn. on Memorial Weekend with the event showcasing one of the largest full point payoffs in history with $3,500 going to the winner, $2,000 for second, $1,000 for third and $300 set aside just to take the green. Points will be awarded for overall Lucas Oil Championship and the NAPA Auto Parts US Tour.
The next night, it’s like no other tradition when the stars and cars from ESS will invade the famed ½ mile in Vernon, NY where it does for every holiday weekend during the racing season. The $2,000 to win, $275 to start A-Main will also pay points for the SUNY Canton Series and marks as a big tune up for the July 31st, $10,000 to win Cole Cup.
The Beard Sewer and Drain Timed Hot Laps will be at Utica-Rome only this weekend as there is no timing loop at Thunder Mountain. Car Mate Trailers will bring you the heat events, Lacaillade Masonry backs the B-Main with the most recent sponsorship coming from Mach 1 Chassis as the title of the A-Main’s.
Trackside Products brings you the Cobra Coaches Dash event at Thunder Mountain with the dash sponsorship still available at Utica-Rome.
After two events, Steve Poirier is leading the points battle followed by Jason Barney, Bryan Howland, Parker Evans, Tommy Wickham, Paul Kinney, Jonathan Preston and Chad Miller who are expected to be in the field this weekend. Other drivers such as Matt Tanner, Sam Reakes IV, Dave Axton, Mike Stelter, Shawn Donath, George Suprick, Paulie Colagiovanni, Keith Granholm, Tim Axton, Jeff Cook, James Hanson, Brandon Kidd, Thomas Radivoy and more also to be at both shows.
At Uitca on Sunday, we can expect to see Danny Varin, Larry Wight, Chuck Hebing, Kelly Hebing, Jared Zimbardi, Dain Naida, Cory Sparks, Pete Richardson, Paul Habeck and others to join in.
Thunder Mountain, $3,500 to win, Utica-Rome, $2,000 to win and the Lucas Oil ESS traveling road show. It’s Memorial Day Weekend and time to honor all those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. What better way than with America’s Race Cars, it will be excitement guaranteed!
