Competing with both the NSL 360’s and NSL 410’s over the Memorial Day Weekend, Ian Madsen would pick up two more feature event wins a couple of Top-10’s over a successful weekend for his KCP Racing team.

“It was a pretty good weekend for us all around,” Madsen said. “We picked up some wins, and ran really well at all three tracks I thought.”

Friday night at the Jackson Motorplex, Madsen stole the show with the NSL 360’s during double feature night. Lining up on the pole of the first feature event, Madsen was strong aboard his Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Team Kline Electric No. 18 machine.

Wiring the field for all 20-laps, Madsen’s third feature event win of the season would line him up on the outside or row six for the second feature of the night.

Continuing to show great speed on Friday night, Madsen was masterful from the back of the pack as he was up to the seventh spot on the ninth lap and into the Top-Five by the 11th circuit.

Continuing to awe the crowd, Madsen would take the white flag in the second spot and would drive around Kaley Gharst in turns one and two to cap off the double feature sweep in thrilling fashion.

Heading to the Knoxville Raceway on Saturday night with the NSL 410’s, Madsen would get off to a slow start during time trials as he timed in 18th fastest but would dig himself out of the earl hole.

Advancing into the second spot in his heat race after lining up in third, the St. Marys, NSW native would line the Royal Flooring/Bobcat/TammyHeckart.com No. 18 machine up in the 12th spot for the 25-lap feature event.

On a surface that was extremely fast from rain earlier in the week, Madsen was able get moving forward. Slicing his machine through traffic, Madsen would get by Davey Heskin and Bronson Maeschen to take over the sixth spot.

Fighting with Brian Brown for the final spot in the Top-Five, Madsen would settle for sixth at the waiving of Doug Clark’s checkered flag.

The weekend would come to a close as the team headed to the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, IA for another showdown with the NSL.

Following a successful Sunday Funday event earlier in the day, Madsen would time in second fastest before finishing fifth in his heat race on a narrow racing surface.

Moving into the Nehring Construction Pole Shuffle, a fifth place effort would line Madsen up in the third row for the 20-lap feature event. A nightmarish start would see the Caliber Iowa/QTC/Flatrate, Inc. machine fall back to the ninth spot which looked like it would be a problem on Sunday’s surface.

Not letting it get to him, Madsen would be the only driver to make up any ground on this night as he was able to fight his way back to finish in the fifth spot.

“We raced really well with our 410ci engine on Saturday and Sunday,” Madsen said. “We were able to go from 12th to sixth on Saturday, and after falling back early on Sunday we were able to come forward as well. All in all a great weekend for our entire team, and a special thanks to those who made it out to the Sunday Funday event.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Finer Cuts lawn and Landscape, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
