(- Petaluma, CA)- Winning a no-stop affair at the Petaluma Speedway back in June, Sean Becker completed the season sweep with the Civil War Series presented by Flowmaster at the bay area facility after fending off series point leader, Andy Forsberg.
With Trent Canales and Becker leading the field to green it would be Canales getting out to the early lead while Becker, Michael Ing, and Dominic Scelzi gave chase.
Following a couple of early stoppages, Canales would continue to fend off a strong group of challengers until the seventh lap when Becker was able to win the drag race into turn one and take over the race lead.
While the top three got away from the field, the battle for fourth through seventh was extremely entertaining on the lightning fast Petaluma Speedway surface as Scelzi, Mason Moore, Bradley Terrell, and Andy Forsberg all raced wheel-to-wheel exchanging track position lap after lap.
After a caution at the halfway point, Becker would continue set a torrid pace as he looked to be nearly untouchable out front. Behind him though, Dominic Scelzi was coming as would get into the third spot.
On the 24th lap a car would spin in front of the leaders and Ing and Scelzi, who were running second and third, would get collected and bring all three drivers night’s to an end.
With the field lined up for a six-lap shootout, Becker would continue to lead the way but would now have his hands full with Andy Forsberg who was now in the second spot. The fans were treated to a thrilling final six laps that saw two of best at the Petaluma Speedway go after the win, with Becker fending off Forsberg to become the winningest driver at the Petaluma Speedway with the Civil War Series as Forsberg finished second, and Mason Moore third.
“I can’t thank Dan Monhoff and his guys enough for giving me a fast racecar,” Sean Becker said in victory lane. “We were really good last week in Marysville, and to win two of these races in a row and four overall is really a tough thing to do.”
Kalib Henry would cap off a solid night with a fourth place finish while Jake Haulot rounded out the Top-Five. After a nice showing at the Marysville Raceway DJ Freitas picked up a sixth place finish while Trent Canales finished seventh, Justin Sanders eight, Koen Shaw ninth, and Michael Kofoid rounded out the Top-10.
Saturday night heat race winners were Andy Forsberg, Bradley Terrell, and Trent Canales, while Canales also claimed the Dash. Aside from picking up the feature event win, Sean Becker also kicked the night off with fast time honors as he laid down a 12.356 second lap.
