ATLANTA, Ga. (October 3, 2016) – The United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars invade Talladega Short Track for the USCS “Shootout at the Short Track” special event on Saturday, October 8th. The event for the USCS drivers serves as Round #41 of the 20th anniversary USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour. The action packed racing card is a literal “Smorgasbord of Speed” featuring plenty of high speed action at one of the South’s most popular racing venues as drivers in seven divisions will be seeking a visit to the historic speedway’s victory lane.
USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters drivers from at least seven states are expected for the final appearance of the USCS sanctioned sprint cars at Talladega Short Track this season. The United Sprint Car Series, now in its nineteenth season, contested its first ever event at Talladega Short Track on April 25, 1997. The winner of that event was 11-time National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee who was the 2014 series Champion as well. Gray tops the entry list for Saturday’s event. Gray is currently leading in the National point standings ahead of his team-mate, female sprint car star, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee who is just eight scant points back in second place. Turpen was the 2015 USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters National Champion.
Race teams and race fans will be treated to a full menu of speed contests with racing in seven divisions. The event includes over 100 laps of Championship main events with drivers competing for approximately $20,000 in prize money. Racing action kicks off on Saturday night at 7:30pm with a full racing program in all divisions including the 120 plus mile per hour USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars.
The second USCS racing division on the action-packed racing card is the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints. Drivers for that division are expected from five states for Saturday’s event. Those entries include two-time USCS 600 mini sprint Champion Bobby Zaiontz from Columbus, Mississippi who has been a multi-time Talladega Short Track winner.Other entries include current series points leader and defending Champion, Remeno Loyal from Georgia.
The three fastest divisions on the TST weekly racing program, the Super Late Models, Sportsman (Limited Late Models), Nesmith Dirt Late Models, plus the Thunder Cars and Rite-way Auto Sales Hot Shots are all five scheduled for a full program in each division in addition to the two United Speed Contest Sanction (USCS) winged sprint car divisions for a jam-packed racing card.
Admission pricing for Saturday’s event is as follows: Adult grandstand $20. Children 6 to 11 years in the grandstands are $5. Children 5 years old and younger in the grandstands are FREE.
