PLACERVILLE, Cal. (October 14, 2016) — The 2016 Placerville Speedway racing season concludes this Friday and Saturday night with the much anticipated Inaugural “Nor-Cal Posse Shootout” Presented by Autism Awareness for Winged 360 Sprint Cars. Track promoters Scott Russell and Kami Arnold have pulled out all the stops for the crown jewel event of their first season promoting the 1/4 mile clay oval at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.
“We are very pleased with head of steam we have going into this event”, Russell said. “The amount of support we have received from sponsors, fans, and race
teams has been very gratifying. As long time
competitors here at the Placerville Speedway, we have always wanted to see an event of this magnitude on the schedule, and we ho pe to build on this momentum and create an event that people will mark on their calendars and want to attend for years to come”.
With a $3000 winner’s prize up for Friday’s preliminary feature, and $7,000 to win in Saturday night’s finale, an impressive list of entrants have been confirmed for this two day Sprint Car Spectacular. Rutherford, California’s Rico Abreu headlines the list of competitors, and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular is looking forward to the weekend. “I’ve been excited about this race since they put it on the schedule”, Abreu said. “I would like to thank Scott and Kami for working so hard to make this great event for us competitors to run”.
Recently scoring his 300th career Sprint Car feature victory, Altoona, Iowa’s Terry McCarl has also confirmed for this coming weekend at Placerville, aboard Nick McCulloch’s #17V. “I love Placerville Speedway”, declared McCarl about returning to California to race. “Its a tight racetrack that makes it exciting for us racers and the fans. I’m pretty excited to run Nick’s car this weekend and have someone who knows how to get around Placerville to work with”.
Five-time Placerville Speedway Champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn is also among the talented field expected this weekend, aboard his familiar PT Shocks/Autism Awareness #7C. “I am thrilled to run a two day show at P-Ville”, beamed Forsberg. “Especially for some good money. The different format is going to be cool, and the ‘event’ atmosphere that RMI is building is going to make this a fun weekend. Hopefully it’s the start of something big”.
Princeton’s Mason Moore, the 2016 Red Hawk Casino Placerville Speedway Track Champion in the Thompson’s Auto Group 360 Sprint Car Series echoed Forsberg’s though07_23_2016_178cts, and added, “I’m really looking forward to the Nor-Cal Posse Shootout this weekend. My F&F Racing team has given me a great car all year long, which allowed us to win the championship at Placerville. Now we get to put it up against the best California has to offer, and defend our turf, so to speak. Hopefully we can continue with the success we’ve had all year long and run up front both nights”.
In addition to the Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Friday night’s program will also include “The Best in the West Spec Sprint Shootout” presented by Intents Racing, boasting a $1200 to win Feature event. In addition, the top three finishers will receive limited edition gold coins. 1st Place will win a 1 oz gold coin, 2nd Place a .5 oz gold coin, and 3rd Place earns a .25 oz gold coin. Organized by Scott Hall, this Spec Sprint Shootout is sure to be action packed.
“We are are really honored to be involved in this great event that Scott and Kami have put together”, Hall stated. “We are looking forward to racing for some good money for Spec Sprint Cars, and hope to add something to this great event by putting on a good show for the fans”.
Also on hand for both nights will be the NorCal Dwarf Car series. Pit gates for both nights of racing open at 2pm while the front gates open at 3pm. Racing will begin at 7pm.
