FINDLAY, Ohio (Nov. 3, 2016) – Caleb Helms worked hard to discover consistency on the race track during the 2016 season.
Helms chased points with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions and he rounded out the season ranked eighth in the championship standings.
“We were racing against stout cars every weekend and were able to finish eighth in points,” he said. “I think we improved some this year and earned some decent finishes, which of course we wanted more of those. We just have to be more consistent.
“Back in July at Kokomo we really made progress. We started back in 24th the first night and drove up to 10th. And then the second night we had started back in the pack and raced all the way up to sixth before running out of fuel. Good nights like those show that we’re improving and learning about the car and track conditions.”
Helms plans on returning to run the All Star series next season with an eye on more consistency.
“I was really proud that dad, grandpa and the team made it through the entire season this year,” he said. “We made some changes with the team and even changing cars, but we learned a lot about each other and about the sport we’re in. I’d like to thank my dad, grandpa, the team, my family and friends, and our sponsors for the support throughout the season and we’re looking forward to next year.”
Helms ended the 2016 campaign having recorded a season-best fifth-place result in Michigan in June as well as six top 10s, including a charge from 22 nd to 10th during the season finale last month.
