Knoxville, IA, August 13, 2021 – Fresno, California’s Gio Scelzi finds himself in a good place atop the Beaver Drill & Tool Jesse Hockett “Mr. Sprint Car” Standings headed into Saturday night’s 60th running of the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals Presented by Casey’s at the Knoxville Raceway.
Scelzi sits on the pole of the sport’s biggest event, but Missouri’s Brian Brown lurks behind him in the standings, and is also locked in. California’s Shane Golobic, South Dakota’s Justin Henderson and California’s Cory Eliason follow. Iowa’s Austin McCarl, Oklahoma’s Daryn Pittman, Indiana’s Tyler Courtney, Texas’s Sam Hafertepe Jr., Australia’s Scott Bogucki and Tennessee’s Sammy Swindell round out the top ten.
The purse has been upped for this year’s award, thanks to Beaver Drill & Tool. The winner will be awarded $6,000, second place $2,500 and third $1,000.
Beaver Drill & Tool Company of Kansas City is in their third year as title sponsor of the Beaver Drill & Tool Jesse Hockett Mr. Sprint Car Award. The Vielhauer family, well-known in the sprint car racing community are owners of Beaver Drill & Tool Co.
