Keeping Pace: Jason Meyers Wins Opening Feature of the World Finals
Jason Meyers did exactly what he needed to do on Friday night in the opening main event of the third annual World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway, as he was victorious to keep pace with Donny Schatz in the closest points race in World of Outlaws history. With the triumph at the state-of-the-art four-tenths-mile, Meyers earned four more points than Schatz who finished second to move to within 25 markers of the three-time and defending series champion with just the finale of the World Finals remaining on Saturday night to determine the 2009 champion.

The Cajun Rages on Short Track Nationals Night Two!
For the second night in a row at I-30 Speedway’s 22nd Annual O’Reilly Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires, it was a former past event winner gracing victory lane as Jason Johnson captured his fourth Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters triumph of the season in Friday night’s 25-lap preliminary feature.

Jones Wins Wild Second Night at Perris
Levi Jones won the second night of the Budweiser Oval Nationals Friday night at the Perris Auto Speedway. Jones topped Jon Stanbrough, who finished held down the runner up position for a second consecutive night, in a close finish. Mike Spencer, Damion Gardner, and Darren Hagen rounded out the top five.

Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation (NYSE: PVH) announced today a multi-year agreement in principle with the Indy Racing League (IRL), the sanctioning body for the IndyCar Series, for its IZOD brand to become the title sponsor of the newly renamed IZOD IndyCar Series.

Numerous drivers participating in the “Budweiser Oval Nationals” at Perris Auto Speedway tonight, Friday and Saturday also have their sights set on next week’s big “Pacific Coast Nationals” at the Tulare (Calif.) Thunderbowl Raceway. The USAC National Sprint Car Champion will be crowned on Sunday night, November 15, following Saturday and Sunday competition at the third-mile dirt oval as USAC’s “Gold Rush Tour” continues.

RYAN LITT: BOUND FOR THE SUNNY SOUTH
While many area sprint car racers are finished for the year, Ryan Litt still has two more events left on his calendar. The twenty-two year old will make the trip from London, Ontario to Concord, North Carolina this weekend for the North/South Shootout on November 7, before finishing his season at Florida’s Citrus County Speedway on November 14.
