Essary, Crawford Victorious; Aton’s Championship makes 21 in 2009 for XXX

From Kaleb Hart

Rafe Essary and Jimmy Crawford were victorious in late season action in their XXX chassis, while Billy Aton’s second points title of the year gave Triple X Race Co our 21st championship of 2009.

In Oil Capitol Racing Series action, the soon to be 48 year old Essary led all 25 laps of the season finale in Enid, OK as he won for the first time this year on Sunday night. Essary’s win came on an extremely slick track, as the surface was black from bottom to top by feature time. The OCRS has seen its fair share of XXX wins this year, with Jonathan Beason and Andy Shouse picking up three victories between them during the ’09 season.

Jimmy Crawford is enjoying a late season surge, as he picked up a $5,000 winner’s check in non-wing 360 action at Ventura Raceway in California. Following a second place run with the USAC/CRA last Saturday, Crawford battled to the lead three separate times in his XXX chassis on Saturday night, taking the win over a stout field of competitors. Crawford is the owner / operator of authorized XXX dealer “Twister X”.

Billy Aton secured his second points title of 2009 with a second place run at Antioch Speedway on Saturday night. Aton captured the 21st championship under the XXX banner for 2009, including titles for organizations such as the ASCS Sprint Bandits, ASCS Gulf South, Southern Ontario Sprints, Northern Outlaw Sprint Association, and the Northwest Wingless Tour. XXX Chassis won track championship at Skagit Speedway, Gray’s Harbor Raceway, Castrol Raceway and Lakeville Speedway amongst others and collected major race wins such as the Dirt Cup, Clay Cup, and Australian 360 National Championship.

Team XXX drivers Ryan Jones and Matt Egel kicked off their 2009 / 2010 seasons with strong efforts at Speedway City in Adelaide, South Australia. Egel had advanced to 4th place before experiencing driveline failure. Jones, the two time and defending Australian 360 National Champ, made his 410 debut a successful one by narrowly missing out on 3rd place, settling for fourth in his debut. Team XXX driver Matt Young also made a successful sprint car debut in the Corfield Woods Motorsports XXX sprint two weeks ago at Tyrepower Parametta City Raceway in Sydney.
