McQueen Scores Another Top 5 Finish in Gold Country

Placerville, CA – June 11, 2011

Bakersfield’s Shannon McQueen guided her McQueen Racing #7 Spike/Esslinger to a fourth-place finish in the Bay Cities racing Association sanctioned event at the 1/4-mile Placerville Speedway on Saturday, June 11, her eighth consecutive Top 10 run and sixth Top 5 of the year.

After starting third in the feature, McQueen faded back to seventh, however rebounding in the final five laps, running laps comparable to the leaders to rally to a fourth-place finish the 22-car field. McQueen overtook 1999 BCRA champion Matt Streeter to claim fourth with three laps remaining on a restart.

Starting fifth in Heat 1, McQueen surged to second on the opening lap, then led two laps before finishing second to Sean Becker.

After eight strong runs, all top tens to open the season, including one feature victory, McQueen leads both the BCRA Dirt points and USAC-Western States points. McQueen stretched her BCRA Dirt lead over two-time BCRA champion Nick Foster, Jr. (sixth place). Next up for McQueen Racing is the Saturday, June 18 BCRA race at the 1/3-mile Chowchilla Speedway in Chowchilla, CA.
