FREMONT, Ohio – Persistent rain throughout the morning and predictions for showers and thunderstorms throughout the day and night have forced the 61st season opener at Fremont Speedway to be postponed until Saturday, April 21.

“We were in contact with Norm Van Ness (meteorologist with WNWO NBC TV) and there was a 70 percent chance of rain throughout the day and night. It just didn’t look good,” said Fremont Speedway Promoter Rich Farmer. “It’s a shame….we had a lot of people out here over the past two weeks working their tails off to get ready for opening night and I really appreciate all their sacrifices and efforts.”

Racing on JRC Transportation Night on April 21 will be the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints competing for the first Kistler Racing Products FAST (Fremont Attica Sprint Title) Championship Series race of 2012 at “The Track That Action Built. Also in competition will be the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and the Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks.

Gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing underway at 7 p.m.
