MARION COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION PLEDGES $50,000 TO NATIONAL SPRINT CAR MUSEUM’S “EXPAND THE DREAM” CAMPAIGN

By Bob Baker

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (November 13, 2012) – The Marion County Fair Association (MCFA) this week pledged $50,000 to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation’s “Expand the Dream” campaign. The pledge will be in the form of $10,000 annual donations to the 501(c)(3) non-profit museum foundation in each of the next five years.

According to museum executive director Bob Baker, “We can’t thank the Marion County Fair Association and its 24-member volunteer board of directors enough for their continued commitment to our museum. Their commitment dates back to our inception in 1986, and they were instrumental in our ‘Complete the Dream’ campaign in the 1990’s. And now they are once again stepping up to the proverbial plate as we prepare for second-generation growth. Sprint car fans around the world, past and present, owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Marion County Fair Association for their support of our membership-based, program-driven motorsports museum.”

“Expand the Dream” is a 3- to 5-year campaign to provide the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum with a $1.8-million, three-story climate-controlled staging and storage facility and $1.5-million in endowment funds.
