No Happy Ending for Stewart

PETERSEN MEDIA

A pair of late race tangles while running up front during the Easter Tri-City Shootout prevented Shane Stewart from having a ‘storybook’ ending to his 2012/2013 season with Monte Motorsports.shanestewartau2

“We were awesome both night, and had great speed, unfrotuatnely we had a couple tangles while running up front which really put a damper on our final weekend together,” he said.

Kicking it off on Friday night at the Maryborough Speedway, Stewart timed in with quick time, putting him in a good spot off the bat aboard his Monster Energy/Milwaukee Tools/GearWrench No.7.

Starting eight in his heat, the Indianapolis, IN driver went from eighth to four in his heat, putting his Lucas Oil Products/K&N/Factory Kahne machine on the pole of the feature event.

Running in the second spot, Shane battled with David Murcott for the top spot for the first half of the race.

On the 15th lap, Stewart and Murcott came together, and Murcott came to a stop, and Stewart inherited the lead.

Two laps latter, Stewart pulled into the infield with front end issues, and his night was over.

Returning to Brisbane a couple weeks after picking up a win, Stewart was fast again as he opened the night by timing in second fastest.

Scoring fourth and fifth place finishes in his heats, Stewart proceeded to set a new track record aboard Prosser Toyota/KRE Engines/Kaeding Performance entry in the dash, putting him on the pole.

Falling into second to Robbie Farr after leading the first half of the race, Stewart got into an altercation trying to get past a lapped car, and his night was again done early while running up front.

Hoping to right the ship Sunday, Mother Nature had other ideas as Sunday’s show was rained out.

“It’s disappointing for sure,” Stewart said. “We had a great car all weekend, and I would of loved nothing more than to end our year in victory lane. I have to thank Luch Monte, his guys, Monster Energy, and all of our sponsors for the opportunity down here in Australia this year, and hopefully we can have some success next year.”

Shane and his Monte Motorsports team thank Monster Energy, Milwaukee, GearWrench, Prosser Toyota, KRE Engines, Lucas Oil Products, K&N, Factory Kahne Shocks, Kaeding Performance, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Miracle Recreation Equipment, Mahle Pistons, Cometic Gaskets, OGIO, GoPro, and DC Shoes.
