Wilmot, WI – (July 22, 2013) — There will be a new road in Wisconsin’s Northwoods this weekend.  The new predator creating the rumble in the timber are the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints which are headed to two very different race tracks to showcase their speed this weekend.  When it comes to sheer speed and excitement the 900 horsepower winged outlaw sprints are sure to shake some trees!

First up is a trip to the Langlade County Fairgrounds as featured entertainment for their county fair.  The track is a sweeping, slightly banked half-mile oval which has been used for special events the past couple years.  Formerly run weekly on Friday Nights the raceway was known as “Daytona of the Northwoods” due to its size in comparison to other raceways in the area.

The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints last competed at the facility in September of 2007 and on that day Scott Young established an all-time track record with a lap of 16.239 seconds.  The last three contests held there with the IRA Sprints were won by Knoxville, Iowa native Wayne Johnson who had a stranglehold on victory lane at the raceway when the sprints came to town.  He swept both events in 2006.

In addition to the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints area Sport Modified type cars are scheduled to appear as a support division.

The most similar track on the 2013 IRA schedule is Dodge County Fairgrounds where Bill Balog scored a victory just a couple weeks ago while being chased to the checkered flag by Phillip Mock and Scott Neitzel.

Hot laps are to begin at 6:00pm, with qualifying at 6:30pm and racing set to start at 7:00pm. Tickets have an advanced sale price of $15 for adults and you tickets are pre-sold at $10 for younger fans ages 4 through 12.  Tickets sold at the gate on race day are $20 for adults and $15 for youths.  Children 3 and under are admitted FREE.

For additional information you can consult the fair website athttp://www.langladecountyfair.com or call the fairgrounds at  (715) 216-2356.

The fairgrounds are located at the northern end of town. Follow Highway 45 through town to North Avenue and you will be at the location of the Langlade County Fairgrounds.

Once the show is complete the teams will pack-up and head even further north to the scenic Ashland, Wisconsin area, home of the true red-clay oval known as ABC Raceway. The track will host the show on Saturday night July 27th.

The banked third-mile oval will see the IRA sprints make their third annual appearance for the series having shown fans the speed of open wheeled racing for the first time back in 2011.  Bill Balog has captured both races held at the facility so far and is seeking his third straight checkered on Saturday night.  Balog also established an all-time track record last year when he toured the facility in 12.382 seconds during qualifying.

Adult admission tickets are just $20 for this special event, while kids ages 6-12 can get in for just $5. Fans ages 5 and under are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.  Hot laps are set for 6:15 pm, followed by time trials for the sprints. Racing gets underway at 7.

The ABC Raceway is located 3-1/2 miles south of Ashland on State Highway 13 and one mile west on Butterworth Road. For raceday information call (715) 682-4990. The track website can be found at www.abcraceway.com

The series top competitors are expected to check out the weekend events led current point leader and 5-time champion Bill Balog.  Leading rookie of the year candidate Jeremy Schultz and two-time series champion Scott Neitzel will also be on hand for the events.

It is expected other series stars such as Phillip Mock, Russel Borland, Wayne Modjeski, Lance Fassbender, Bill With, cousins Scott and Dave Uttech, Nick Alden, Todd King, Michael Decker and the father and son team of Kris and Dennis Spitz will be on hand.

Both events are sure to thrill fans with the fastest machines on clay.
