From Selinsgrove Speedway
Selinsgrove, PA — (September 21, 2013) — With the forecast for heavy rain to arrive in central Pennsylvania this afternoon and continue into the night, Selinsgrove Speedway officials announced the cancellation of this eveningโs (Sept. 21) four division racing program as of noon.
Saturdayโs cancellation marks the end of the 2013 points season for the trackโs weekly 358 sprint car, late model, pro stock, and roadrunner divisions.
Jason Shultz of Carlisle (A&A Auto Stores 358 sprint cars), Jeff Rine of Danville (Jeffโs Auto Body & Recycling Center late models), Troy Miller of Tower City (pro stocks), and Brian Johnson of Ashland (roadrunners) clinched this yearโs titles.
Three races remain on the speedwayโs 2013 schedule. The track will return to action with the 13th Annual Mach 1 Chassis National Open for 358-360 sprint cars at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, paying $8,000 to win. Joining the sprint cars on next Saturdayโs racing card will be the pro stocks in an open competition event. Track gates will open at 5 p.m. The rain date, if needed, will be 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29.
Teams are invited to put their race cars on display from approximately 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, as part of the 35th annual Market Street Festival in downtown Selinsgrove. Please email publicrelations@
The 410 sprint cars will make a final return this season for a Twin 20โs program at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 (please note if Williams Grove Speedway needs to use Oct. 6 for a rain date for the World of Outlaws National Open the Selinsgrove race will NOT be held).
The speedway will close out the 2013 season at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, with the running of the Late Model Fall Classic paying $5,000 to win. Also on the Oct. 12 program will be the four cylinders.
The DH&L Fire Co. will hold its annual Race Car Flea Market on the speedway grounds beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.
