EL PASO, Texas (Nov. 5, 2013) – It certainly wasn’t the way Josh Baughman wanted to end his season.

Baughman wrapped up his year last Friday at El Paso Speedway Park with a violent flip on the opening lap of the feature. The crash destroyed his race car and knocked him out in the process.

“That was by far the worst one I’ve been in and I’ve been in a few crashes this season and last year,” he said. “That ended our night and ended that car. That was a brand new car with only two races on it.”

After finishing fourth in his heat race on the locked-down track and second in the B Main to earn a transfer to the feature, Baughman started the 30-lap main event 18th.

“The wreck happened in front of us,” he said. “Travis Rilat was flipping in front of us. I checked up like everybody in front of me did and I had a guy behind me run over me. When Johnny (Herrera) hit us it flipped me into Travis.”

The impact, which happened exiting turn four as the green flag was being waved, resulted in a 24th-place result for Baughman. He had planned on competing with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour the following night, but decided to head back to Texas.

“I had a spare car,” he said. “I had a real bad headache. My back is still real sore. I’m just over tearing stuff up.”

Baughman is set to fly to Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz., for this weekend’s Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season finale. However, he will go as a spectator.

“I’m going out there to watch Jason (Johnson) win a championship and hang out with those guys,” he said.
