PEORIA, Ariz. (April 12, 2014) – Ricky Thornton, Jr., continued his mastery of the 1/3-mile Canyon Speedway Park clay oval by winning Saturday night’s IMCA Modified feature during the Spring Speed Event.

 

While Thornton, Jr., bested the Modified ranks once again, Matt Lundy struck for a win in Challenge Cup Sprint Cars as well with Matt Martinez triumphant in the Factory Stocks, David Harrington handling the Renegades and Tony Martin victorious in the Dwarf Cars.

 

Thornton, Jr., rallied from four rows deep for his sixth overall CSP win of 2014 ahead of Cody Center with George Fronsman, Jeremy Thornton and Clifton Maggard in the top five.

Matt Lundy also race from the seventh starting position to take Challenge Cup Sprint Car honors ahead of Dennis Giles and Kevin Keefer while Matt Martinez took advantage of a front row starting position to win the Pure Stock main event ahead of 12^th-starter Chris McCurdy, Jr., and Zack Madrid.

 

David Harrington held off 11^th-starter Tate Allen and Joe Peterson for Renegade honors while Tony Martin rallied from 11^th to take the Dwarf Car win ahead of 14^th-starter Kevin Cain and Cory Brown.

 

 

Following an Open Practice on Wednesday, April 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., action at Canyon Speedway Park continues on April 26 with the Fourth Annual Canyon Clash featuring the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars along with Micro Sprints, Pure Stocks and AMA Mod Lites.
