– ROSSBURG, Ohio (Oct. 13, 2015) – Dale Blaney secured his sixth UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions title prior to last Saturday’s season finale at Eldora Speedway.

However, he wanted to cap it with a trip to Victory Lane for the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports team.

“Going in the championship was at hand and we hadn’t won a race at Eldora this year,” he said. “It’s actually been a couple of years. I felt like we needed to win a race.”

Blaney qualified second quickest overall despite going out late and he survived an early scare during a heat race, which dropped him to seventh before Blaney rebounded to place fourth. That locked him into the dash, where he charged from 10th to third place to start the main event on the inside of the second row.

“We rode around in second behind (Chad) Kemenah for the first 10 or 12 laps of the feature,” he said. “We got into traffic and I felt my car was a little better. I was a little more maneuverable and I got the lead. A red came out with about 12 laps to go. After the restart I should have moved to the top at both ends, at least in turns one and two. I made a mistake trying to get to the top in turn four and got crossed up, lost a lot of speed. He got a run on me and slid me the next lap.”

Blaney nearly returned the move following a late-race restart, but didn’t have enough room to clear Kemenah for a slide job.

“I probably made a couple of mistakes that gave him an opportunity,” Blaney said. “Overall we had a great car. About three or four mistakes on my part probably cost us a win.”

Blaney’s second-place finish was his 37th top five of the season, including the 28th in All Star competition for the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., backed team. Blaney led the series in victories with 12 – seven more than any other competitor – as well as top fives and top 10s.

“Being the first year with Tony (Stewart) owning the series, winning that was definitely special,” he said. “I’ve got six of these now. They’re all a little different. We only fell out of one All Star race all year long. We had a great car as far as reliability and that probably won the championship for us.”

Blaney is scheduled to compete this Friday at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind., with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and before he makes his debut at Path Valley Speedway Park in Spring Run, Pa., on Sunday.
