BEAVER DAM, Wisc. — June 16, 2016 — The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series will invade Beaver Dam Raceway in Wisconsin on Saturday, June 25 for the Seventh Annual Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial Presented by Karavan Trailers. The high-banked, third-mile traditionally puts on one of the most thrilling shows of the Outlaws season.

Last year, seven-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz won the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial for the first time, charging from the 10th starting spot. He became the fifth driver to win the event, which dates back to 2010. For Schatz, it was his second-career World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series win at Beaver Dam Raceway, with the first coming back in 2002.

Four drivers led laps in the 2015 Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial at Beaver Dam Raceway. Shane Stewart paced the first 11 circuits, after starting on the outside of the front row. Kerry Madsen, who started on the pole, led from laps 12-26. Daryn Pittman, the 2013 World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, was out front from laps 27-33. Schatz took the point on the 33rd lap and would remain out front for the final eight laps to score the $10,000 win.

Joey Saldana, who won the first two editions of the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial, has three career wins with the series at Beaver Dam Raceway. Pittman has also won a trio of races at the high-banked oval as well. That pair leads all active full-time drivers with the series at Beaver Dam Raceway. Brad Sweet, who is Pittman’s teammate at Kasey Kahne Racing, has won once at Beaver Dam in his career. A total of 13 drivers have won with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at the track, dating back to the series inaugural event at Beaver Dam Raceway in 1996.

Sweet, who has six wins this season, holds a one-point lead over Schatz in the standings through June 15. The pair has traded the top spot in the standings a couple of times in the last week. Schatz has picked up a series-best nine wins thus far in 2016. Pittman with four wins in third, Shane Stewart, with four wins in fourth and David Gravel with three wins in fifth, round out the top-five in points.

Also following the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series tour this season is Saldana, who sits sixth in points, with three wins. Jason Johnson, who has one victory thus far in 2016 is seventh, followed by Jason Sides in eighth, Logan Schuchart in ninth and Paul McMahan in 10th. Jacob Allen is also back on the road this year for his third full season with the Outlaws.

A pair of drivers are contending for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award in 2016 with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, Greg Wilson and Clyde Knipp. Both will be making their first trip to Beaver Dam Raceway.
