FAIRBURY, Neb. (July 25, 2017) — Racing legend Jon Backlund and author Bob Mays will be in attendance for the signing of the new book, The High Banks, Belleville’s Amazing Track and the Men Who Tried to Tame Her, 1910-1997, at the Jefferson County Speedway on Tuesday, August 1st. during the running of Tuesday Night Thunder featuring USAC Midgets.

Backlund, a native of Kansas City, Kansas, had a long career on the Belleville High Banks, sweeping the 1971 events and winning the BCRA sprint car championship in process. He was also a regular contender at the Belleville Midget Nationals with his best finish a second in 1987, behind Sleepy Tripp. Jon is a member of the High Banks Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 2000.

For Mays, who co-wrote The High Banks!, with National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductees, Beryl and L.A. Ward, this is his sixth book on racing history. He was inducted into the High Banks Hall of Fame in 2006.

The book signing will begin at 5:00pm at the Fastrack Publishing booth behind the grandstand and continue until the beginning of hot laps for the USAC midgets.
