Keeping Pace: Jason Meyers Wins Opening Feature of the World Finals
Posted on November 7, 2009 | No CommentsJason Meyers did exactly what he needed to do on Friday night in the opening main event of the third annual World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway, as he was victorious to keep pace with Donny Schatz in the closest points race in World of Outlaws history. With the triumph at the state-of-the-art four-tenths-mile, Meyers earned four more points than Schatz who finished second to move to within 25 markers of the three-time and defending series champion with just the finale of the World Finals remaining on Saturday night to determine the 2009 champion. -

Schatz and Meyers are separated by just 19 points entering the three-day event, which begins with two rounds of qualifying on Thursday, November 5, that will set the heat race line-ups for the racing programs on Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7. -

World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series At a Glance: World Finals
Posted on November 2, 2009 | No CommentsThe 2009 season comes to a close for the World of Outlaws with the third annual World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, November 5-7. The event kicks off with a night of qualifying on Thursday, followed by full racing programs on Friday and Saturday. Heading into the World Finals, three-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz has a 19 point lead over Jason Meyers in the series championship standings with two points paying events encompassing the World Finals, with third-place runner Joey Saldana 46 markers out of the lead and still mathematically eligible for the title. The finale of the World Finals will air live on SPEED on Saturday, November 7 beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern.
