With the calendar ticking over into November, a few long awaited and much anticipated racing events are finally dawning for Todd Wanless, Pete Thorley and the ABC Auto Gear Racing team with thee Qld Speedway Spares and World Series Sprintcars races on their schedule this month.

First up for Todd, Pete and the team is the fourth Round of the Qld Speedway Spares Series in Brisbane tomorrow night (Saturday, November 7) where they will be seeking to emulate Kerry Madsen’s victory in the #2 Aljon/Action Metal Recyclers J&J last week. Kerry’s cameo appearance and subsequent victory in Round 3 of the Series was the team’s first victory of the season and sits well alongside Pete’s podium finishes aboard the #51 Tyrepower/Action Metal Recyclers J&J in the opening two Rounds of the Series.

Each year the World Series Sprintcars (WSS) Championship brings together Australia’s best along with some very talented American drivers for races across the country and this season is no different with names like Tatnell, Farr, Dumesny and Johnson heading to Brisbane for the Championship opener on November 21 and then Round 2 a week later in Toowoomba. WSS Features are difficult to win and many drivers never do get that elusive victory during their careers. Wanless has two World Series A-Mains to his credit and ironically they came at both of these tracks.

“I’d like to think we’ve got as good a chance as anyone at all three races this month” Wanless commented.

“Our team has been together for a few years now, we have good equipment, good motors and there’s a good feeling in the shop which we take to the track with us. Every race is difficult to win, no more so than the World Series events where you really need to be on your game to get on to the top step of the podium. We enjoy racing against the likes of Brooke (Tatnell), Robbie Farr and Max (Dumesny), they’re three of the best week in and week out and if you can come home ahead of them then the whole team has done a pretty good job on the night.”

“Having Kerry in our car last week was a bonus for us, not only because he won the Feature but it also gave Buzzy and the boys a chance to work with him. Kerry has got an enormous amount of experience after racing in America for a number of years and if a little bit of that can stay with the boys then our team will be all the better for it. We’re looking forward to working with Kerry again when we can.”

After three Rounds of the Qld Speedway Spares Series, Pete Thorley sits in third place on the ladder and well within reach of the Series leader, while Todd who has only contested two Rounds this season sits back in twelfth position. Both drivers will be looking for solid results to improve on these positions at Archerfield tomorrow night.
