Marysville, CA — As of this writing the New Year’s Day Playday is ON! According to promoter Paul Hawes, despite the recent downpours the new crash “wall is done, the track is shaped, graded and compacted. Now it’s out of our hands.” Hawes went on to say, “The long range weather looks OK though. As we get closer (to Friday) we can affirm it’s going to happen.” As is his practice, promoter Hawes will give plenty of notice if the event is hampered by the weather.
MRP will offer the 3rd Annual New Year’s Day Open Practice from 10AM to 4PM. Prices for participants is $20.00 car and driver. A pit pass is $10. The grandstands are FREE for anyone who wishes to take in the action on that side of the fence. The track will be open to every class of racecar. The last two editions of this January 1st event were great gatherings of fine cars and drivers as the racing community celebrates the New Year.
The 2010 season as reviewed in an earlier release shows promoters Paul and Kathy Hawes have penciled in some special events onto the calendar for the 42nd season at Marysville Raceway Park. While some dates are still being jostled around to fit into the schedule just right, Paul Hawes has announced a Golden State King of California series event will be presented on Saturday July 24th. This will mark the first appearance of the state’s premiere 410 winged sprint cars series at MRP since 1998.
Hawes also will bring back the Mighty Modifieds to MRP in a touring series format that will include races at Antioch and Chico. The number of events and the dates are not yet set. The Wingless Sprint Cars will have a touring series of their own in addition to having a full season of point races at MRP. This series will include MRP, Antioch, Chico and Petaluma.
MRP will also schedule a full season championship point series in the 360 Outlaw Winged Sprint Car division. In addition to the Wingless Sprint Car season points championship, the MRP Mini Stocks will be back for another season of championship point racing. The winged Super Stocks will have several dates and, at this writing, it is undecided as to whether they will run for points or not. The monstrously popular Extreme Bombers will be sprinkled into the mix on numerous occasions throughout the 42nd season at MRP. The Pro 4 Sprints will run regularly at MRP in their own championship point racing season.
Negotiations between BCRA and MRP solidified dates with the full midgets and BCRA’s Midget Lite Division. The Nor Cal Dwarf Cars will be back for point races as well.
Early season special events will kick off the 2010 season. Stock Car and Sprint Car special event dates will be forthcoming soon. Look for revivals of the Great Taxi Cab Open and the Spring Winged Outlaw 360 Sprint Car open. The season will conclude with a spectacular series of special events. The annual West Coast Dwarf Car Nationals will kick off the post season in advance of the Gold Fever Triple. Promoter Hawes will present the annual Gold Fever Open for Winged Outlaw 360 Sprint Cars, the Gold Fever Open for Wingless Sprint Cars and the season closing Gold Fever Open for Stock Cars. The later event will feature the annual Extreme Bomber 100 lap Trailer Race.
More specifics on the event dates and of course the presentation of the 2010 racing schedule will be upcoming.
