“SPRINT CAR 101” THIRD THURSDAY SERIES TO START WITH BOB TROSTL

From NSCHOF

KNOXVILLE, IA – Following some very well received receptions during the past 24 months at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum, curator Tom Schmeh has established a series of monthly get-togethers for 2010 entitled “Sprint Car 101”. The programs will be held on the third Thursday of each month, beginning on Thursday, January 21, with a “Salute to Bob Trostle”. 1993 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame (NSCHoF) inductee Bob Trostle and his wife Dorotha will be on-hand to greet his many racing friends. In addition, he will interviewed by Knoxville Raceway announcer Tony Bokhoven about his storied career in sprint car racing. Tony will also allow friends to share their memories of the two-time Knoxville Nationals-winning car owner during the two-hour program, which will begin at 7 p.m.

According to Tom Schmeh, “Obviously we have already honored builder, owner and mechanic Bob Trostle of Des Moines with our highest honor, induction into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, but that was way back in 1993. We thought it would be fun to salute him again, over fifteen years later, in a more laid-back, casual setting on our newly renovated second floor. With Tony Bokhoven interviewing Bob and his friends as if they’re just sitting in our living room and talking, we’re going to hear the real stories from his
decades in the sport. I expect some will be funny, some will be sad, and some will just be ‘the world according to Bob Trostle’. It should make for a great couple of hours of education and entertainment from one of sprint car racing’s greatest achievers!”
