Placerville, CA – January 23, 2010…After hooking up as a combination last year Placerville, California racer Andy Gregg and car owner Bret Ervin will return in the 2010 season once again picking and choosing where they go on a given weekend throughout the year, rather than focusing on points with any certain series.
Gregg is coming off one of the more successful seasons of his career with a number of strong performances across multiple series’ and tracks and looks forward to kicking off the season in just about six weeks from now. “We had a pretty good season last year and it was nice to not run for points and just focus on having fun going where we wanted each weekend,” he said. “We’re pretty much going to do the same thing this year and hope to get some wins for Bret Ervin and this team.”
The last few seasons have seen Gregg accomplish a number of firsts beginning in 2007 when he captured the first California Sprint Car Civil War Series victory of his career in May at Marysville and then backed it up with his second Civil War win in September at Petaluma. He also claimed the initial two wins of his career at his home track of Placerville Speedway in August of that same season. In 2008 Gregg then picked-up a huge victory at Silver Dollar Speedway in June as he held off two-time King of California Jonathan Allard to score his first ever 410 sprint car win.
This past season saw the 29-year-old competitor score a pair of third place efforts at Placerville Speedway in Golden State Challenge action, which marked his career best finishes with the traveling 410 series. In addition to those he also scored his best ever finish at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway in April by finishing fourth with the Golden State Challenge Series. Other highlights during the year for Gregg included a runner-up finish at the ASCS NW Region’s season opener in Medford, Oregon; a career best finish of eighth at Chico’s Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals in October; as well as a triumph at the Marysville Raceway Park in May, where he out-dueled multiple-time track champ Colby Wiesz for the win.
As the 2010 season approaches the schedule for Bret Ervin Racing will take the team up and down the left coast with the hope of also making the trip back for the 20th annual Knoxville Raceway 360 Nationals. To be able to do so the team is hoping to raise around $2,000 from now till that time to help Gregg fulfill a long-time goal of competing at the famed Marion County Fairgrounds half-mile dirt-oval. “Racing at Knoxville is always something I’ve wanted to do and I have to thank Bret for giving us the chance to possibly do so this year,” said Gregg. “We are hoping to get a number of different business’ or people to help chip in because any little bit will help get us to our goal and we already have some individuals who have committed to helping out so that’s been pretty cool.”
