Reidy’s Strong GAC Performance Cut Short

By Daniel Powell

The annual Grand Annual Classic (GAC) held over the Australia Day Long Weekend at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway down in Victoria saw Danny Reidy show impressive speed but unfortunately it ended on a sour note.

Reidy qualified directly into the feature race on both night one and two of the Grand Annual Classic where he finished 13th on the opening night and then failed to finish the second night due to engine woes.

“Making the feature race field over both nights of the Grand Annual Classic was an achievement in itself,” said the NT # 5 Desert Palms Resort supported J&J driver. “We qualified strongly for the feature race on the second night out of position 10 and after about half race distance I started to suffer engine woes and was consequently forced to retire a few laps later.”

Last Friday night leading up to the Grand Annual Classic Reidy contested the Kings Challenge at Borderline Speedway (Mt. Gambier, SA) and it saw him firstly qualify and then finish sixth in the feature race which was by far one of his strongest recent results.

Reidy had an unhappy run during last Tuesday night’s 12th round of the World Series Sprintcars (WSS) Championship at Premier Speedway and crashed out of the running in the C-main. Earlier in the night, Reidy qualified badly in time trials and that hurt his chances of a direct transfer into the feature race field.

Currently Reidy sits 12th in the overall WSS Championship point standings.

Reidy is set to contest this Saturday night’s (January 30) Australian Nationals at Speedway City (Adelaide, SA).

Reidy would like to thank: Desert Palms Resort in Alice Springs, Baines Engines, Gonzo Racing Pipes, Camden Neon Signs and P&M Motor Body Repairs for all their 09/10 season support.
